Children in the New Millennium: Environmental Impact on Health', published earlier this year by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), is now available as an easy-to-navigate on-line resource at: www.unep.org/cehand includes useful features such as links to additional UN and external resources. The book aims to inject new urgency into efforts to address the interlinkages between environmental factors and the survival, protection and development of children. By providing information on specific environmental health threats facing children in their immediate surroundings, as well as on the impact of global environmental problems, it can stimulate discussion, and ideally lead to intensified action and the elevation of the issue on the international agenda. The three United Nations agencies involved hope that by providing an informed basis for action and practical recommendations at different levels, the book can inspire everyone who cares about children to take decisive action that will improve both their health and that of the environment.
